Instructions

  1. Make groups of three or four.

Understand conditional sentences



  1. If we use more wind power, we will reduce pollution. (First Conditional with Will)
  2. If the weather is sunny, we might produce more solar power. (First conditional with might)
  3. If we improve the design, we can make the system more efficient. (First conditional with can)
  4. If we upgrade the system, we could produce more energy. (First conditional with could)
  5. If you need more power, you should upgrade the system. (First conditional with should)
  6. If the voltage is too high, you must turn off the power. (First conditional with must)

Preparation (30 Mins)

  1. Individually, prepare three statements related to your major.
  2. Use the first conditional to write such statements.
  3. Don’t over-complicate the statements and create stuff with AI that you don’t understand.
  4. Double check the grammar and spelling of your sentences.
  5. Double check the pronunciation of the words.

Practice (15 Mins)

  1. You will practice once with a partner assigned randomly.
  2. Express your points of view and listen to the ones by your classmates
  3. Agree and disagree with them.

Production (30 Mins)

  1. You will have to tell your statements to a partner.
  2. The partner has to agree or disagree, ask for clarification if necessary

This is an example of a person making an statement using the first conditional and another person showing disagreement.
