 Pre-Task 

Students using the Quizlet application will review the vocabulary that will be studied in class, students say the words aloud to themselves and their classmates, Students can also flip the card to know the meaning in spanish or click the microphone button to listen the pronunciation. The Quizlet set can be seen here

Teacher prepares a kahoot quiz, students install the application in their cellphone and the person with the most correct and fast answers will be crowned the winner. The kahoot quiz and jumble can be seen here  and here

Students practice in pairs the target structures that will be sent to them via whatsapp. The structures can be seen here , the students will switch  places and practice with different classmates.

Part of the students are going to access a survey created using google forms. The survey will be sent to through  a link, the student will interview one of the classmates asking personal information questions, company questions and questions about their surroundings. they survey can be seen here


Task 

Students in pairs create a phone conversation between a client and a receptionist in which the receptionist has to answer questions about the services and facilities the company she works for  offers.


Planning 

Student take 10 minutes to practice the dialogue and the teacher coaches them in terms of pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary.


Report 

Students record the conversation using a whatsapp or the stock audio recorder of their cellphones and later those conversation are heard in class connecting their phones to the  speakers. Teacher will ask questions to their classmates regarding to what they heard.


Post- Task 

Students will receive a powerpoint presentaton with  images and they will describe the facilities of a company to their classmates or the places located around the company. The presentation can be seen here

Teacher shows a presentation in which vocabulary related to protective clothes and equipment is introduced + the modal should

During-reading:

Task #1: Students  read sentences and they identify what protective clothes and equipment is necessary to keep themselves safe

Task#2:  Students match the protective clothes and equipment that with the dangers that they can avoid by using it.

Task#3: Student unscramble pieces of sentences that include pronouns, the modal should and equipment for safety + the reason why you should use it.

Post-reading:

Students write recommendations

Evaluation of Learning Outcomes:

Writing


Objective: 

Writing short phrases using correct spelling

Presentation

Teacher introduces the most common signs that you see in the workplace + key  vocabulary to explain them + the modal must

The pronunciation is reviewed using the cambridge online dictionary

Practice 

Task #1 : Students are given a matching exercise in which they have to match a sign, the location where the sign is placed and the reason for warning

Task#2:  Students use the  results of the matching using the modal must

Production

Students present the signs to their classmates, where they are placed and the reasons for the warning

During- reading

Task #1: Students are given pieces of papers  that they have to unscramble to make recommendations, once recommendation are scrambled, students say them aloud.

Task #2: Students see pictures and slides and make recommendations using the phrases already introduced.

 Post- reading

Students prepare a conversation in which they make recommendation, those conversartions are spoken in front of the classmates.

Listening


Objective: 

Listening for key information in context

Pre-listening: 

Teacher shows a presentation with key expresssions used when making a reservation + how to say telephone numbers in English and the alphabet to spell complicated names and last names

During-listening:

Task #1: Teacher tells ten telephone number and  spells ten complicated last names, once they are finished, they repeat this information back to the teacher

Task#2: Students fill in the gaps as they listen three different situations in which a reservation is made.

Task#3: The teacher ask questions that they student answer from reading the text

Post-listening:

Students write a conversation about making a reservation and they perform it in front of class

Evaluation of Learning Outcomes:

The teacher by means of rubric will evaluate students’ oral ability to make a reservation


Writing


Objective: 

Writing sentences and paragraphs to describe tourist attractions

Presentation

Teacher introduces key vocabulary about touristic places, activities you can do in them and the accomodations that hotels and resorts provide by using a presentation and a vocabulary list.

Teacher and students check the pronunciation of the new words using the cambridge online dictionary and then they play a game to memorize the vocabulary

Practice 

Task #1 : Students read a short paragraph and write the accomodations and activities that you can in touristic places

Task#2:  Students see a powerpoint slide and describe the accomodations and  characteristics offered by some hotels.

Production

Students write a paragraph in which they describe a touristic place of the their choice

Task#1 Students are going to unscramble sentence to make questions to ask information about places to go and visit.

Task#2 Students read the questions and look for the answers to the questions
