teaching reading 1

I love learning new  stuff  especially when it  comes   to English Language Learning and  Teaching , I have been studying  more and more  about the  receptive skills reading and listening and  I  would  love  to dedicate  this entire  page  to  reading terms  and stuff related  to it.

So  what  do   you usually  read ? and  how  do  you read it  ?  what  are   some of  the  challenges   you  face  when reading.

I will  post  relevant answers   to  those  questions  and more.

Before  moving forward ,  let ‘s pay attention to some terms.

Reading is a complex cognitive process of decoding symbols in order to construct or derive meaning

Reading comprehension is defined as the level of understanding of a text/message

Autonomous readers: readers that can manage without a teacher.

Extensive reading  is an aid to language learning, including foreign language learning, by means of a large amount of reading which is expected to statistically increase unknown word encounters and associated learning opportunities by inferencing.

Word lists by frequency are lists of a language’s words grouped by frequency of occurrence within some given text corpus, either by levels or as a ranked list, serving the purpose of vocabulary acquisition. A word list by frequency “provides a rational basis for making sure that learners get the best return for their vocabulary learning effort”
