Usos del Verbo “Must”
El verbo modal “must” en inglés se utiliza para expresar obligación, necesidad o una fuerte recomendación.
- You must finish your homework. (Debes terminar tu tarea.)
- She must study harder. (Ella debe estudiar más duro.)
- We must leave now or we’ll be late. (Debemos irnos ahora o llegaremos tarde.)
En su forma negativa, “must not” o “mustn’t” indica prohibición.
- You must not smoke here. (No debes fumar aquí.)
- They mustn’t park their car here. (No deben estacionar su coche aquí.)
También usamos “must” para hablar de que tienes algo de certeza en base a cierta evidencia

Must Have Been
“Must have been” es una combinación de verbo modal + have + participio pasado y puede considerarse como un uso avanzado del must.
Esta estructura puede presentar algunos desafíos debido a que los aprehendientes deben manejar el pasado participio de los verbos.
“Must have been” se usa para hacer deducciones o suposiciones sobre el pasado.
